Land Based Ulua GT Fishing report 08-08-08. Got strike 15 kg+ on 2nd cast !!
We arrived at the destination on 07-08-08, and spent the night over.
The early next morning we drive on our 4×4 jeep to destination, few hours later, we arrive at the spot, all guys were quickly set up the camp and then the rest of us after a quick snack leave the camp for fishing. set up gear for minutes then i started testing the water.
1st popper cast, test cast ok.
2nd cast, 3rd cranks playing popper, and strikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gt run like crazy, pull me 2 steps forward, i stepped back 3 steps and get a sturdy stands to fight this beast.
these gt is no easy surrender, running my PE 6 out of my Okuma Salina 80 with leader 120 lbs flourocarbon,
in seconds i started to gain control the fight, then the leader line, the 120lbs 10 feet leader reached the tip of my popping rod. almost got it, we saw the shadow down below my feet, may about 15+ kilos weight of fish,
all other guys were running toward us with the camera. and the gt run with its all power for the last time,
Man !!!! it run into the rock, my 9 kgs drag setting can not stop it, it broke my leader line. there it goes, gts ran toward it freedom.
then again after a short break we start working the waters, got many missed hooks and miss strike, gt was miss bite the back of the popper.
We released all fishes landed that day.
we release the rest of the fish caught that we will have dinner tonight grilled lamb as plan.
night fall, we headed back to the camp, and the food coffe and some snack and the story of today became chat of the night, we all then have shower in the nearby creek. dinner with chicken and grilled lamb satay. great day great night great dinner great adventure a great day.
Day02.
started early in the morning, waves and wind is to strong and low tie, while waiting we are enjoying some coffe and snack we bring along, around 10 we start casting, this time we wil bring it back for grilled fish,
still at the same area, that we have many many gt fishing spots along the coast but we decided to keep working on this one.
again, after a short time, we have a strike - will upload the video on you tube and picture section in this website.
Landed and we take a break and taking picture. we need to land the 2nd fish, that today group is around 10 peoples. 2nd fish caught at the same area when even the low tide, a niners kilograms gt.
